Lough Ree The Bridge Galey Bay 13 Year Old Single Grain Irish Whiskey is a distinguished release from Lough Ree Distillery. This single grain whiskey is crafted with the utmost care and precision, offering a unique and elegant drinking experience. Distilled from the finest grains at Cooley Distillery and aged for 13 years, this whiskey embodies the essence of Irish whiskey.
The maturation process involves initial ageing in a Bourbon cask for 9 years and 2 months, followed by an Oloroso cask finish for an additional 3 years and 10½ months. This dual-cask maturation imparts rich flavours and a smooth, refined character. Each bottle of Lough Ree The Bridge Galey Bay delivers an exceptional taste, preserving its natural colour and complex flavours through non chill-filtration.
Producer History
Lough Ree Distillery, founded by siblings Peter, Sheila, and Michael Clancy, is located in Lanesborough, Co. Roscommon. The distillery is renowned for its innovative approach, blending traditional methods with modern techniques to produce some of the finest Irish whiskeys. Since its establishment, Lough Ree Distillery has earned a reputation for quality and sustainability, sourcing local ingredients and employing eco-friendly practices. Their commitment to crafting unique and memorable Irish whiskeys has positioned them among the top Irish whiskey brands.
Galey Bay, or An Ghaille, is an inlet on the western shore of Lough Ree in Co. Roscommon. Known for its depth and rapid trout-filled stream from Lough Oura, Galey Bay boasts a rich history dating back to the Iron Age. The site includes remnants of Galey Castle, built in 1340 by William Bui O’Kelly. Galey Bay also holds the distinction of hosting Ireland’s first Fleadh Ceol, a grand music festival initiated in 1351 by William Bui O’Kelly. The bay's historical significance is further enriched by a 10th-century log boat discovery, now displayed in Roscommon Museum, and its association with an annual yachting regatta held by Lord Crofton from 1872 to 1912.
