West Cork Virgin Oak Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a distinguished expression from West Cork Distillers, a distillery renowned for its dedication to quality and innovation. Situated in Skibbereen, County Cork, West Cork Distillers was established in 2003 by childhood friends John O’Connell, Ger McCarthy, and Denis McCarthy. From their modest beginnings, they have grown into one of the top Irish whiskey brands, recognised globally for their exceptional Irish whiskeys.
Product Details:
This Single Malt whiskey is crafted from 100% malted barley and undergoes a meticulous production process. Initially, the whiskey is matured in first-fill Bourbon casks, which impart rich vanilla and toffee notes. It is then finished in Kelvin Cooperage virgin oak casks, adding layers of oak, sawdust, and a touch of vanilla. The whiskey is triple distilled, non-chill filtered, and bottled without added colour at a natural 43% ABV, preserving its authentic flavour profile.
Producer History:
West Cork Distillers began in a small room at the back of Denis' house in Union Hall. Despite the economic challenges, their passion for creating high-quality Irish whiskeys led them to success. In 2014, they moved to a new facility in Skibbereen, significantly expanding their operations. Today, the distillery operates on a 12.5-acre site on Marsh Road, with a distillation capacity of 4 million litres of pure alcohol. West Cork Distillers' products are now sold in nearly 70 countries, reflecting their global reach and reputation for excellence.
